“The theme of this conference addresses relevant health topics, eg, demand for health care, access to health care, population health as a determinant of health care demand and the heterogeneity of needs in chronic diseases. It also emphasizes the offer of health care, the efficiency and continuous improvement of quality, the response to the provision of health care, primary health care, Hospitals, continuing care, digital transformation as a factor of change, systems of payment and the health professions. As an additional matter, the conference will focus on the health system, its funding as an organization for the protection of citizens, the rationality of the National Health Service as the backbone of health in Portugal, the pressure of innovation for health expenditure and, finally, challenges and paths for the Portuguese health system”.
