“The XXXV International Congress of ASEPELT (International Association of Applied Economics) takes place in Madrid from June 29 to July 2, 2022 and its organization is being carried out, on this occasion, by the Complutense University of Madrid, and in particular by its Department of Applied, Public and Political Economics and by the Faculty of Statistical Studies. The purpose of the Congress is to provide a pleasant and engaged forum for debate and discussion that will serve to enrich and disseminate the work of ASEPELT in the field of applied economics.
The central axis on which this XXXV International Congress of ASEPELT will revolve will be constituted by the opportunities offered by Data Science for the advancement of applied economics. Economics is an empirical science. Data analysis is indeed one of the fundamental elements of applied economics. The quantification of economic phenomena, the contrasting of hypotheses about the functioning of the economy, the elaboration of purely predictive models or the evaluation of the impact of economic programs and policies require data analysis.
The CARS researcher António Duarte Santos will be present as a member of the Scientific Committee and speaker of the Congress. His participation as a speaker is based on the article entitled “An essay on how data science can strengthen business”.
